My personal view

I’ve played Coplicks, and the value for money is its biggest draw. It’s a good club for a reasonably priced hit without making your bank account feel like it’s entered a charity scramble.

The catch is the traffic. It can get crowded, and I’ve found the queues at the tees painful at times. There’s getting time to think about your next shot, and then there’s having time to rethink your entire golfing career.

The clubhouse felt dated to me, and I thought the food lacked variety. The staff, though, were incredibly friendly. That welcome counts for plenty.

Excellent value and lovely people, with waiting time and the clubhouse experience holding the overall score back. That’s how I landed on 5.7 birds.

What will a round cost me?

Published public rates, checked 30 October 2026. Cart packages below are priced per person for two golfers sharing.

Visitor option Mon–Thu Fri–Sun
Adult · 9 holes walking $30 $40
Adult · 18 holes walking $40 $50
9 holes · shared cart package, per person $45 $55
18 holes · shared cart package, per person $65 $75
Junior under 11 · 9 holes $20 $30
Junior under 11 · 18 holes $30 $40

Bogan tip: Friday counts as a weekend for green fees. Monday–Thursday saves an adult walker $10 on either distance.

Ask about solo-cart pricing and availability. General play uses rolling tee times: check competition windows and queues before paying.

Thinking of joining?

The first question is whether you want discounted rounds or included weekday social golf. Those are different packages.

Category Cost What to know
Standard $470 annually + $80 joining fee for new members Handicap, GolfLink registration, insurance as defined by Golf Australia, discounted green fees and cart hire, competition access and member benefits.
Gold add-on $750 on top of Standard Unlimited Monday–Friday social golf. Competitions excluded; weekend rounds charged at member rates.

First-year totals: $550 for Standard, or $1,300 for Standard plus Gold. The membership year is 1 January–31 December.

The ongoing listed components for Standard plus Gold total $1,220 without another joining fee; confirm renewal and part-year arrangements. Discounted member green-fee amounts aren’t published on the membership page, so a reliable break-even calculation needs those figures.

Gold includes Friday social golf even though Friday attracts weekend public green fees. Competition rounds still cost extra. Ask the club to confirm the applicable rate for your intended round.

The course: a shorter scorecard, a proper round

The club lists an 18-hole, par-67 layout beside Tallebudgera Creek, measuring 4,442 metres for men and 4,346 metres for ladies. It sits in the rural surroundings of Tallebudgera Valley, near the Man on the Bike landmark.

A shorter published length doesn’t make a score automatic. My recommendation is to enjoy the value and give yourself enough time, rather than squeezing the round between two commitments.

Rolling starts, queues and when to visit

The club operates rolling tee times for general play. You can turn up and check in without booking a tee time, but that isn’t a promise of an immediate start.

My experience is that the queues can be frustrating. Check the competition windows on the official golf page and call ahead if you’re working to a deadline. For a quieter visit, ask staff which periods currently have the lightest traffic.

Phone: (07) 5534 8484. After rain, check course and cart access before leaving home.

Clubhouse, food and facilities

The welcome

The staff were incredibly friendly when I played. Service was one of the highlights of my experience.

Clubhouse and food

The clubhouse felt dated, and I thought the food could use more variety. Those are my impressions from visiting, rather than a claim about every day’s menu.

Carts and hire clubs

The club confirms motorised carts, pull carts and hire clubs, including left- and right-handed sets and junior clubs. Confirm current availability and charges.

Licensed venue

BYO alcohol is not permitted. Check food service times with the club if you’re planning to eat before or after your round.

Facilities and conditions of entry →

Before the birdies, there were cows

The club’s current history says the course was family built in 1989 and opened in 1990, celebrating its 30-year milestone in 2020.

An older club description preserved by Golfshake says the property began as a dairy farm, initially became a nine-hole course in 1989, and expanded to eighteen holes over the next four years.

The accounts describe the early dates slightly differently: the club’s own opening date is 1990; the older account describes development from 1989. The staged expansion and dairy-farm origins are attributed historical details, rather than a newly verified archive.

From dairy paddocks to golf: fewer cows, more people blaming their equipment.

A score to make the rest of us uncomfortable

The club’s published record list includes Matt Begg’s 59 on 24 February 2019. That’s the latest entry displayed on the page, not a claim that no subsequent record has been set.

Course map and scorecard

Hole19 lists Coplicks as mapped in its app and provides scorecard information. Use it as a planning aid, and ask the clubhouse for the current official scorecard or printed layout.

A verified downloadable official course-map image wasn’t located, so this guide links to the course listing rather than reproducing an uncertain layout.

The Bogan verdict

What I liked

Excellent value for money · incredibly friendly staff · a good overall club experience.

What could be better

Crowded periods · frustrating tee queues · a dated clubhouse · limited food variety on my visit.

5.7
/ 10 BIRDS

Coplicks gets the value-for-money part right. I’d recommend it for a reasonably priced round, provided you leave some breathing room for queues and go in with realistic expectations about the clubhouse.

The staff make you feel welcome. The price gives you a reason to return. A bit less waiting would make the whole experience better.
